Volunteering for those in need

From Scranton PA affiliate FOX WOLF:

We spoke to a dedicated volunteer with first-hand experience in the south of Israel, gathering critical supplies and goods to assist those affected by the ongoing situation

He provides us with insights on the challenges being faced within the community.

Obviously, there’s a tremendous amount of fear and anxiety that people are dealing with not knowing, there’s about one degree of separation, everyone knows someone that is on the front line, but what is also coming about is the country is united like its never been before,” said Stuart Katz, mental health advocate and author.

“I, myself, last week was in the U.S for two days and I came back, I had 32 bags with me of donations that people made,” said Katz.

“Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes, both from the South and North of Israel. We’ve taken toys for the kids, they are all in hotels now in the center of the country, and we take toys to them, try to bring them some joy and happiness, because they are not in school where they should be,” he added.

There’s a version of healing the world prefers: quiet, gentle, grateful. The kind that smiles politely, forgives quickly, and never raises its voice. The kind that fits neatly into community newsletters and Instagram captions. The kind that’s easier for others to witness — because it doesn’t ask them to sit…

  • Why Survivors Leave Faith Spaces (And What It Would Take to Stay)

There’s a moment — subtle, quiet, almost imperceptible — when a person sits in their place of worship and feels their chest tighten instead of soften. It might come during a prayer once filled with comfort. Or in the smile of a leader who no longer feels trustworthy. It might…
